His Excellency The Vice President Amissah-Arthur Lauds GIFMIS

His Excellency The Vice President  Kwesi Amissah-Arthur  has lauded the Ghana Integrated Financial Management  Information System(GIFMIS) project.

GIFMIS  seeks to establish a nation wide  integrated computerized financial management system  for  Budget preparation & implementation,Accounting/Financial Reporting,Cash Management and Assets management among others. 

The project is being implemented by the Controller and Accountant General's Department (CAGD), with pool funding from the World Bank, DFID, DANIDA and the EU.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur  made this observation when he visited the e- Ghana GIFMIS Exhibition Stand, as apart of a knowledge fair organised  by  the World Bank  to show case some of the projects it  was funding in the country.

"That is a good and important project' were  the comments of the Vice President, when he was untroduced to the GIFMIS stand by officals of the  World Bank.

The Knowledge Fair  formed part of activities to inaugurate a new office complex for the World Bank Groups, located on the Independence Avenue - Ridge, Accra

His Excellency Vice President Amissah -Arthur, who officially opened the office complex in a speech commended the growing collaboration between the Bank and the Government of Ghana. 

Mr Jean Phillipe Prosper, Vice-President of the IFC for Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, said the structure embodied the spirit of Ghana, which stood at the forefront of colonial independence and was now leading in the African economic renaissance.
